Why does November have Veterans Day, Diwali and Thanksgiving so close together?
Veterans Day comes first, on November 11. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs explains that the date marks the armistice that stopped the fighting of World War I. It took effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. It was first called Armistice Day, and Congress renamed it Veterans Day in 1954 to honor veterans of all wars. The sheet fits that day.
Diwali often falls in autumn too. The Smithsonian's National Museum of Asian Art describes it as the Hindu festival of light, celebrated over five days. Families decorate with clay lamps and draw rangoli designs, which are markers of good luck. The , and sheets all show those traditions.
Thanksgiving closes the month. The National Archives records that Congress fixed the holiday on the fourth Thursday in November, and President Roosevelt signed it into law on December 26, 1941. In 2026 that Thursday is November 26. Each of these days comes with its own colors, which is where coloring begins.
How do you color November coloring pages for Thanksgiving and Diwali?
For Thanksgiving, use rich browns, deep oranges and golden yellows. Color a turkey's tail in bands, changing color on each row of feathers. Pumpkin pie looks real with a light orange filling and a golden crust edge. Leave a white curl on the whipped cream.
Diwali pages call for bright colors. Make each lamp flame yellow at the center and orange at the edge, and leave a thin white line around it for glow. Rangoli designs look best in many bright colors repeated around the circle. November even has its own colors. The American Gem Society lists topaz and citrine as its two birthstones, and citrine runs from pale yellow to brownish orange, the same golden shades as the leaves. For the , red poppies with dark centers stand out beside the flag. Once the colors are done, the pages can decorate the season.

The works well at a family table. Each guest writes one thankful word on a leaf, and the finished page becomes a keepsake. Small colored turkeys and pies can be cut out as place cards. Print those on cardstock so they stand up next to a plate.
