Free printable toddler coloring pages have one big picture, thick lines and no busy background.
These free printable toddler coloring pages show one big, simple picture per page, drawn with thick lines and lots of open space. Some are everyday objects, like a paper boat or a beach ball. Others are smiling animals, from a groundhog to a little spider. A few add the month's name or a first letter in fat outline letters. There is also how to spot safe crayons, from the Art and Creative Materials Institute, and simple ways to color alongside a toddler.
The simplest pages are single, familiar objects.
Easy toddler coloring pages show one familiar object.
The floats on one wavy line. The is a big circle split into stripes. The has one flag and an arched door. The stacks two scoops with sprinkles on a crisscross cone.
Each shape is something a toddler can name, which makes it easy to talk about while coloring. Faces are the next favorite.
Toddler coloring pages with animals give each one a big, happy face.
The pops up from its hole with two big teeth. The sits with fluffy ears and a big dark nose. The waves its tiny arms. The has a round face and eight bendy legs.
Even plants join in. The and the both smile back at the child coloring them. Some toddler pages also bring in words and seasons.
Toddler coloring pages for seasons and first letters mix pictures with big words.
The blooms under the word APRIL, and the buzzes under the word MAY. The sits below the word JANUARY. The has round ornaments and a star on top.
The curls a spotted snake around a big letter S. The wears a tiara and a puffy dress. Toddlers do not need to read the words, but they enjoy hearing them. When they are ready for a little more detail, our preschool coloring pages are the next step. First, though, it helps to have the right crayons.
How can you tell if crayons are safe for toddlers?
Look for the AP seal on the box. The Art and Creative Materials Institute, or ACMI, gives its Approved Product seal to creative materials. ACMI says to check for the AP seal on products for kids in sixth grade or younger.
ACMI explains that products with its seals go through toxicological testing by board-certified toxicologists. An AP product contains no materials in amounts that would be toxic or harmful, including to children. It is also labeled under the ASTM D 4236 standard and the US Labeling of Hazardous Art Materials Act. With safe crayons in hand, coloring time can begin.
How do you color with a toddler?
Tape the page to the table so it does not slide around. Offer two or three chunky crayons instead of the whole box. Let the toddler pick, and do not worry about staying inside the lines.
Name the colors and the picture as they go, like a red ball or a yellow bee. Color a page of your own next to them, so they can copy you if they like. Stop when they lose interest, even after a minute, and hang the page up proudly. Our easy coloring pages have more simple pictures for the next session.
From a paper boat to a smiling spider, these free printable toddler coloring pages keep every picture big, simple and friendly. Pick one shape, grab a safe crayon, and color it together.
